This is a 12-week programme of continuous assessment run concurrent with enrolment in an Auckland English Academy Communication English class at a level meeting the entry criteria for the chosen NZCEL programme at partner school Bridge International College.
This Pathway provides evidence of English language proficiency for the purpose of entry onto a Bridge NZCEL programme (Level 4 or 5) and is an alternative to Bridge’s internal placement test (IEPT).

REQUIREMENTS TO COMPLETE PATHWAY
- Maintain attendance above 90%.
- Participate in all classes, including homework.
- Achieve 70% across two 6-weekly tests*.
- Complete weekly portfolio tasks.
- Receive the teacher’s endorsement.

- Morning: 8:30 – 12:30
- Evening: 17:30 – 21:30
PATHWAY ENTRY
The pathway starts when students complete all the following requirements:
- Reached the required CE Level.
- Attend a diagnostic interview with the Bridge Director of Studies or delegate.
- Sign the NZCEL Pathway waiver (Pathway course starts officially after signing the waiver, cannot be applied retrospectively).
ASSESSMENT
- *6-weekly tests: All skills must be a minimum of 60%, with an overall score of 70% or above.
- Scores may be clubbed (i.e. the highest scores from each test can be combined).
- Weekly portfolio submissions will be conducted under test conditions.
SUPPORT
NZCEL Pathway learners will be given individualised feedback on their portfolio tasks and offered opportunities to attend academic and/or language skills workshops to accelerate their learning.
